Deer Valley this weekend.

Well, the Bellas were out in full force this last weekend at the latest stop at Norba National #4 in Deer Valley, Utah. Armed with their fully-outfitted Kona Kula Lisa bikes, the women stomped to numerous top-15 finishes in the Short Track, Pro Cross-County, Super D, and Downhill events.

Velo Bella-Kona was again the largest Pro Women's Team in attendance, with numbers totaling SIX in the Pro Short Track and Cross Country alone.

I have to say, though, the HIGHLIGHT of the event I think was the ENTIRE Velo Bella-Kona squad (including Allie Rau, our pro downhiller in full-face helmet effect!) riding in the Norba Kid's Race. This was great! It really gave the crowd something to be thrilled about.

The team, as always, was in full effect, adding "flair and fun" to their Kona pit area by rockin' the tunes, hangin' a disco ball, and showing that racing at the highest domestic mountain bike level can be fun!

Now, I write this as I'm on a plane at 20k feet next to a guy who won't give me any room on the armrest, but let me tell ya folks...I learned first hand last night (again) that the Bellas are a great fit with the Kona guys...both camps hooked up for some post-race fun and libations in downtown Park City. After that the party continued at O'sheas where there was a peanut fight between VB-K, Rocky Mountain, Kona Les-Gets, Trek-VW, and Gary Fischer-Subaru.

I promise you all that the Bellas prevailed in the peanut-tossing competitions.

Nevertheless, yes, there were results (and some great ones with an inspired Kristin Danielson rockin' back to back 11th place finishes); but most importantly, the Velo Bella-Kona women represented cycling to the fullest by being professional, giving back, and representing their sponsors well. I was proud of all of them, and I know all you who read this would be too.

So, after a couple of quick transfers to here and there, the majority of the gals will be racing this Friday in the United States National Championships in Sonoma, CA. Wendy Simms will be competing at the Canadian Nationals this Saturday, then the entire team will get back together on August 4th at the Norba #5 in Brian Head, Utah!

Today I thought I'd show you all a fun, longish lunch ride. I rode about 15 miles up the American River for lunch.

It started out here in what I like to call "reality".

Then I entered the American River watershed

To find this thing of beauty, the American River Bike trail.

Where these dudes were really killin' it. I could see 'em coming though.

Then I crossed the river...where these guys were getting their boat-on.

Then I ran across a hottie milf on a cruiser....

...saying farewell and heading into the little town of Fair Oaks

Which is where my lunch stop was, the Sunflower Bakery....it's an all veggie and vegan place. I'll have to send the BagBoy's here (they're all veggie homos) after the Rancho Cordova Crit...it's totally close and grubbin'!

These guys are residents of the town of Fair Oaks....you get to share lunch with them, it's pretty cool.

I had a super avocado pita with a nutburger patty....mmmmm....

Riding back to the river, I saw more of the town's residents playing in the park....

When I got back to the bike path, I had to haul ass back to the office...

But I still had time to say hi!

I wonder if this guy got some of that sweet turkey ass? That sweet meat looks good enough to eat!

So I was given a bunch of projects for the end of the week....and I've done them all. So I still have to be in the office...but I'm telling you that I think I've reached the end of the internet. I've googled, blogged, researched everything I could ever want I think.

I've updated sponsors, set up races with the teams, worked on scheduling with some riders, called to thank more sponsors, ugh. I am so friggin bored.

I think I'll ride my bike for lunch today.

I didn't know what to call this entry, so I thought that I'd write the first thing that popped into my head.

So did all of you see the new pimpy parts n stuff at the otter?

I'm trying to build up wendy a superpimpy rocketship. Now that she's so "B.T." and such a good representative for her sponsors (she's super positive, always happy, willing to talk to anyone, plus the girl MOTORS) I think I'll be able to get her a hardtail built around 18-19 pounds for racing only (wendy!).

About the components...everything worked super well this weekend. Although we switched out a ton of stuff...that muck will take it's toll! A bunch of girls went through cables, wear items, etc. The big winners for this weekend were the Easton parts (those new XC One wheels are SWEET!) and the Schwalbe tires. Not to mention the Crank Brothers pedals. heck, everything worked so good. You know when a bike part is good? When you "set it and forget it". Thank god for the Chris King Headsets!

What else....looks like the team has a couple weeks off here until Gila/Fontana. I think Nicole is going to Athens...that's a pretty tech crit where positioning is everything, so hopefully she can pull something off there.

Fontana's coming up. I think these MTB girls are really getting me back into the whole MTB thing. The girls are so positive, they're so willing to be "good guests" that it makes people like me want to take care of girls like them. Not to mention that they stepped it up. 4 races in that stuff is hard physically and mentally. At all levels...the girls killed it. They all rode their best, and I for one, am proud of them! For many of these gals, this was their first pro race. Talk about a tough one to jump into!

Anyhow, that's enough outta me.

Making my Dream a Reality

Well, after years of "when is it going to happen" and "boy i'd like matching tents" this weekend made all my dreams into reality.

Well, my girl and I decided to kick it like karate this weekend. No tahoe (for once), no running around. Just she and I, me and her.

Maybe we'll cuddle.

I think what we'll do is end up going to slam some balls with the boys.

So that was MUCH needed. Went off to the "Biggest Little City" to do a bit of work, some good eats, and some fun times with the clients and fellas from work.

Got up early yesterday, got our stuff done, then headed up the hill and hit up Sugar Bowl for about 8" of fresh over about another 10". Off in the trees it was knee deep. Fun fun fun. Probably one of the best ski days of the year, not because of the conditions but because of the crew. Also tried all diff kind of 2007 sticks....wonder what I'm going to add to the quiver.

Damn I love skiing.

I'm also getting back into bike riding. Hopefully my Kona Dawg is gonna be there soon. I'm super pumped about going and riding spots like Tahoe and Downieville this summer. Especially since suzy's cut back on the racing...we'll be able to do a bunch of riding.

I won't lie to you, I have a couple favs going into the weekend. I'm thinking that Victory is going to do well, along with Lipton, T-Mobile, Webcor and Colavita. T-Mobile will dominate though. Specifically Ina.

I'd love to see our girls get into a couple pics though, maybe ride at the front a bit, and get a mention in one of the web-writeups. That'd rock regardless.

Because of my "high profile".

I was talking to the weekend crew, about how Rich's name was on my badge at Tour of Cali. At first, I actually refused to wear it. Then I was wearing it inside my sweater (that had his name on it, which is pretty gay if you're actually hanging out with the guy whose name is on your sweater) but I had to pull it out like every 2 seconds because we were all about all access.

I just texted richie to let him know that suzy and I want our own badges this time.

I may even have to friggin email aronhault to get him to put my name on it and not rich.

All in all I've come up with something....I want to be all access without having to wear some badge.
